Recap: Weeks 3-6

Week 3 (2/17/14 – 2/23/14) was incredibly boring as far as training goes. Remember how I noted that I was letting the leg heal and spending a week run-free? Well, that was week 3. It was boring and included a lot of walking. There was a bit of time on the bike, but that was about it.

In total, I closed out my week with:
8 hours and 14 minutes of training:
3 hours and 5 minutes of walking
2,100 yards of swimming
1 hour and 53 minutes of biking/spinning
2 hours of yoga
30 minutes of abs & strength training

Week 4 (2/24/14 – 3/2/14) was similarly boring, but at least I was back to running! I chose to celebrate with a pretty reasonable running schedule and a new pair of running shoes. My parents also came to spend a rainy weekend with me in northern CA, so my father and I spent Sunday morning on the trails.

I don't have pictures from running with my Dad, but I do have this one of the back of my legs after a muddy trail run with a coworker EG.

In total, I closed out my week with:
4 hours and 39 minutes of training:
20.31 miles of running
60 minutes of yoga
20 minutes of cross-training
30 minutes of abs & strength trainin

Week 5 (3/3/14 – 3/9/14) I totally dropped the ball.  It was a rough week personally so I chose to spend time focusing on that. My track workout that week was phenomenal though – I managed to hit a new PR for the mile!

Relevant only because it shows feet at the pool.

In total, I closed out week 5 with:
2 hours and 55 minutes of training:
16.07 miles of running
2,400 yards of swimming

Week 6 (3/10/14 – 3/16/14) was a doozy. I was home sick on Monday and out of town for training on Wednesday and Thursday. I also did not complete any non-running workouts (it would be the last two weeks, but I did go swimming once in Week 5 with a friend). Maybe that is why my legs have started hurting again. Week 7 shall hopefully involve more balanced workouts.
Week 6 was, though, still a good one. I had my first race of the year on Sunday and manage to scrape by with a 2 minute PR in the 10K!

Week 7 thus closed out with:
2 hours and 7 minutes of training:
15.26 miles of running

The last couple weeks

So…I have dropped the ball. Initially because I wasn’t really training yet, but also because I just let January get away from me. It happens, and I can honestly say that in January I regularly chose sleep over many other things that I could or should have been doing.

December 2013Like running

But anyways, my first week of training for Silverman was the first week of February (2/3/14 – 2/9/14). It was a good introductory week and I got in many of my planned workouts, although not nearly enough time on the bike.

In total, I closed out my week with:
5 hours and 47 minutes of training:
20.74 miles of running
1,600 yards of swimming
45 minutes of spinning
35 minutes of abs & strength training

Week 2 (2/10/14 – 2/16/14) went about the same as week 1.  My left calf and shin started hurting so I tried taking it easy to let the leg heal.  It didn’t work, so I am now in the midst of week 3 and haven’t run at all.  And, once again, this week can be characterized by saying that I did not get nearly enough time (::ahem:: none) on the bike.

IMG_1414Bonus points for actually getting in the pool – twice! – though.

In total, I closed out week 2 with:
5 hours and 22 minutes of training:
16.82 miles of running
3,300 yards of swimming
60 minutes of yoga
50 minutes of abs & strength training

This last weekend…

…we cleaned the apartment and I feel so much better about getting everything else done.

…I tried biking with the boyfriend but through a weird series of events wound up injured and unable to complete my ride.

…my local sports store is having a sale until the first snow in Tahoe.  I scored two new practice suits for 20% off.
New Swimsuits

…I’ve watched four episodes of Alias this weekend, and each one makes me wish that I was in shape and good enough at martial arts to travel around the world as a CIA agent.

…my boyfriend is making lasagna for dinner.  From scratch. I’m excited.

So tell me…what did you do this weekend?

There's always a reason to run
